5/04/12:  Great news!  We put a charge on the car and added some gas to the carb and she turned over and fired up for a bit and died down.  Starting is always a good thing!  It obviously has a continual fuel supply issue so the tank is likely gelled or the lines blocked, but I am very pleased that we don't have any major ignition issues!
